Both an in-depth eye evaluation with all additional functional and imaging tests required, as well as genetic counseling and DNA analysis to support a clinical diagnosis are services routinely offered in our national Belgian reference center. We are a member of the European Reference Network for Rare Eye Diseases (ERN-EYE). The team is led by Prof Bart P LEROY, with two other clinician-specialists available for ophthalmic genetics: Dr Julie DE ZAEYTIJD and Dr Sophie WALRAEDT. Our Department is working closely with the team of Molecular Genetics Laboratory led by Prof Elfride DE BAERE, MD, PhD, of the Center for Medical Genetics Ghent at our Hospital. We provide outpatient visit services in Dutch, French and English, for Belgian and international patients.
